Allot of people do Richard. There is a pretty large gun club less than a mile from my house & it's always busy!
Personally, I never got into it as a sport but I know allot of guys who have. They load their own ammo, collect antique firearms (a very expensive hobby!) & target shoot all the time. (I just never got into it much) Another thing that really seems popular is Paintball!........Must be just a "Guy" thing.........a throwback to playing "Cops & Robbers" as a kid.! (I wish I had invested in it! ;) )

While I'm still taking a break, I have weakened enough to respond to Don's post on another thread when he said:

So no more political stuff for you for a while.Last night was the first time I looked at that stuff since I've been on this forum.I was on my local village board for 8 yrs,I didn't run last year, had a heart attack I think that was the good lords way of saying you've done enough public service. The board was changing too.Instead of public servants the board was filling with politicians and I can't work with dishonest people.
DON

My response to Don is:

Not for a while Don. I was getting tired of debating something that will be proven in less than a month anyway. (Who most Americans blame for the economic crisis we are in)
On the one hand you have people claiming that Americans blame the Republicans because of the liberal media not giving voice to the conservative side...but...at the same time, these people will argue that Fox News is watched by more people than all the other networks?!
You can't have it both ways, so I'll just let the voter speak on 11/4
(That was it in terms of political posts for a while, but I weakened! )

Back off political stuff!

This close to an important election, I am weakening & choose to 'Modify" my stance in that I will post sparingly, & only on THIS thread, a few political thoughts as I feel the need. I suggest that anyone who wishes to avoid reading my opinions need only avoid reading this thread. ......They will not appear elsewhere.

In that regard & based on Sen. McCain's new (desperate) tactic of avoiding the real issues that are hurting the middle class so badly, (such as the economy, gas prices, home heating prices, etc) & going back to character assassination, let's not forget McCain's role in the scandalous Savings & Loan debacle of the late 1980's & 1990's. McCain was admonished by the entire Senate for his role in "Influence peddling" in which he accepted "bribes" (no sugar coating from me) for favors. (no wonder he has 7 homes & 13 cars!)

This link is broken, either the page no longer exists or there is some other issue like a typo.

Add to that his public joking about the looks of a teenage girl,(called Chelsea Clinton "Ugly" for a few yuks) his cheating on a sick wife & ask yourself: 'Is this the kind of man I want to elect as my President?" & "Haven't we had enough of that kind of President" ...(pictured below with his twin)
I'm voting for Ron Paul & suggest you do the same. He is an honorable man, McCain no longer is.

Welcome Terry. Post anything you want here. :) (my photo wasn't faked! :P )

This will be the only thread I will post any political views on so everyone is welcome to express any views. I'll only comment when I have something to add as, now that members are starting their stoves, things are picking up on the main forums.

Acres wide and a mile deep of liberal swill and sewage.. that is what this thread should NOW be titled.. I'll now avoid it like the POX.

Have at it Devil, I KNEW you couldn't stay away till the elections were over..

You were able to resist a little less than 4 days..

I'll try to be diplomatic.
Dick is a lib who coward back in the closet.
Ron Paul supporter my butt, he knows BO is going to take his home state, he can write in daffy duck, won't make any difference. ;) And spare us the "I don't feel comfortable supporting...... I have to look at myself in the morning when I'm shaving, every day" bullsh!t!.

Check out this web site & look up the "candidates" voting record ratings & tell me how you can jump from BO to RP.

Believe what you will but I AM voting for Ron Paul, not because I dislike Obama but because I can't vote for the Democratic party this year as they have violated thier oath of office (they swore to defend the Constitution) by taking impeachment off the table.
As far as who will win in Mass., I don't vote based on polls & likeliness to win....I vote my conscience.

I think it's unfortunate that many on the McCain side of this important national debate obviously are taking their cue from McCain & injecting anger & personal attacks against those on the other side. Why this is necessary is beyond me as I think it doesn't explain their support of McCain &, instead just belittles their arguments. We are all good Americans here, who simply disagree on how to better our country, & it serves no purpose to lower the debate to name calling. I will try to avoid this but am not always successful either. (I know it really pisses people off when I post pics of Bush & McCain together, but I do this because it is the most effective way to remind people who Sen. McCain really is & whose policies he is promising to continue. It is an effective " "Anti-McCain" tactic & one McCain can't dodge because it is true, imo & his own words.

I'm limiting my comments to this thread only & I welcome anyone to post their views. Hopefully, if anyone does post here, they can try to stick to the issues & I hope Greg & others (that I have great respect for) will reconsider & read/post on this thread.

I weakened, BUT...... My original position does really stand though, in that I will not be posting on political threads....Just this one.
So, I guess you could say that I "modified" my original position, not a total flip-flop! (do I sound like a politician? ;) )

(I figure with the debates coming up & the election around the corner, it's not the time to go on a "strict diet" of no politics)
