Just returned from Octoberfest @ the Lion Brewery in Wilkes Barre.....haven't ever seen that many "wiener" dogs in one place.....great beer....great food...perfect NEPA day.....check it out..... http://www.lionbrewery.com/calendar.html
Funny thing is.....I once worked vacation relief at the Gibbons brewery in '69 or '70...got my own "church key" on a string so I didn't bother anyone else to open my beer. No....OSHA was not in existence at the time. You just went up to the line and grabbed a beer....best job I ever had.
Around 1963, '64 they had an ad campaign on TV where they used this European guy with a hand sock puppet. To make it short they would say about Gibbons Beer "GIBBONS, IS GOOD" . They handed out a license plate size weatherproof cardboard plates for the front of your car that said IS GOOD on them. People started painting their own sayings on them like is better, is best etc. Here is a pic of a coaster with the IS GOOD slogan.
