Ok, so I have looked a number of places online for horizontal clearances to a window spec. I have found:
9"horizontal clearance for stoves under 50K BTU and 1' over 50K BTU. This is listed on LL's website and is just below the listing for SWG 4HDs power venter
This is consistent with what my AK dealer told me today on the phone. He opened the AK PV box and looking at the installation manual it states the same 9" or 1' depending on your heater BTU's. He read me the P/N for this PV and it was Field Controls SWG 463956401.(SWG 4HDs)
I have also read that these clearances are for Direct Vent and not Power Vent, further defining a DV system as:
"sealed combustion". Aren't most coal stokers sealed combustion?
Other places I have looked were 4' horizontally to window. Is there anybody out there that has had a PV system installed at 9" or 1' from a window and had it pass inspection?
I don't really want to buy and install a SS chimney so I want to exhaust(no pun intended ) all other options before pursuing this chimney thing.

I have a power vent for my oil boiler and the clearances are 4' below or horizontally from any window Here's a link to SWG power vents web site. Scroll half way down and there's a diagram showing you all the clearances.

Yes, I saw that but also was told that the same PV SWG-4HDs unit can be placed 9" or 1' away by both the AK dealer and it seemed as though is was listed that same way on the LL website.

I'm not sure what they are considering to be any opening through which vented gases
could enter the building. But since it clearly states 4' below, 4' horizontally, or 1' above
any door, window I would have to go with the 4' rule for a power-vent of any kind.

Yeah, I am not sure, it is just strange that my dealer said that it stated 9" and 1' inside the SWG kit.

I have a pv on my leisure line pioneer coal stove approx from 2'-0" from a double hung window.
