I just called my retailer (King Supply) of anthracite coal (rice) and coal stoves/furnaces. They told me the Ohio legislature just passed into law a waiver of sales tax for non-Ohio residents purchasing coal and/or furnaces/stoves in Ohio. So if you live outside of Ohio and you buy coal/stoves/furnaces in Ohio you no longer pay Ohio state sales tax ! About time the politicians start to understand that less taxes generates more sales. As for myself I'm headed the 18 miles to Kingsville, Ohio and pick up a skid of rice today.

BTW....George at King Supply in Kingsville, Ohio is a great coal/stove/furnace dealer.

There's no sales tax on coal in PA, at least for anthracite for heating purposes. Never has been AFAIK.

So if you're a resident of Ohio and purchase coal you're still paying tax?

I don't know about Ohio residents getting a tax break and really don't care. Buying coal in PA would be nice but my Ohio retailer is 18 miles from me up here in Erie County, PA. I don't know of ANY pay coal suppliers in PA closer than 18 miles. In fact any I've discovered are at least 80 miles away.

No sales tax on any fuel used for residential home heating in Maryland. It was eliminated during the last energy crisis in the '70's.

I think here in NY, we only pay 3 or 4% sales tax due to fuel. but not the 8-8.5% regular Sales tax!!!

ohio is going to get every penny out of you they can and were still one of the worst states in the union. I pay tax on my coal , fuel oil , house phone , cell phone , electric bill , i'm sure others , just can't think of them now. were probaly the only state that has to pay sales tax when you buy a used car. that car could get taxed 4 , 5 , 6 , 7, times in it's life. wasn't once good enough when it was bought new. when I buy stuff online out of state , I pay no sales tax. now the state wants you to report those purchases when you do your taxes. lol

Same in NY too, paying for taxes on everything, even FOOD and clothing. Along with everytime you register a used car, you have to pay the sales tax on the purchase price!!

Here in NY it depends on what county you are purchasing coal in. Oswego and Onondaga Counties there is no tax on coal. Cayuga and Ontario Couties there is a 3 or 4% tax. I'm not sure about other counties. These are just the 4 counties that I have bought coal in. I haven't bought in Wayne County yet.

No tax in Madison or Chenango either.I guess if you live in a really greedy county you have to pay.

Your neighbor to the East....Pennsylvania whacks a used car buyer with sales tax ! A motor vehicle could be sold a dozen times in PA and each time Fast Eddie gets a check from the buyer. Bet you didn't realize that.

Now instead of complaining citizens need to vote and vote out the taxing bums. If the next one doesn't support lower taxes get rid of him. It's not easy but nothing worth doing is easy !

BTW....as Obama continues to TALK about RAISING taxes the socialists in this country continue to support him ! Hold on to your wallet and start stocking up on ammo.

I'm curious if there is any state that doesn't charge sales tax on a car each time it's registered?
