Yep that's it Freddy.It is used for purging the system.Lift up and you get full DW presure.

That big nut on the bottom of your feed valve is a strainer(screen) that is what gets clogged with age.I wouldn't clean it I would just get another one(feed valve) and keep it on hand so the next time you drain the system you can replace it.
