Alaska inquiry finding: Palin abused power

By MATT APUZZO
Associated Press Writer
.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket.
nvestigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.

Trooper Mike Wooten should have been fired for using his taser on a child but the commissioner would not fire him so that is why he got axed.
Isn't it great the way they don't tell the whole story.

Let's see: Here are a few facts to consider b4 you vote:

Sen. John McCain admonished by Senate Ethics committee for "Poor Judgment" in the 1980's in re influence peddling Keating Five scandal.

Sarah Palin...... in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain."

Opinion:

These were the best candidates the Republican party could find to run this year & they favor socializing corporate debts?,...Barry Goldwater would be rightfully ashamed of his party

Dev, you are doing a great job of Spinning all on your own, you just keep reading the selected bits and pieces you like, then answer yourself with other bits and pieces..

and of course selectively turn a deaf ear to any facts that dispute your selected 'facts'..

Finding Number Two:
"Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads."

Just a minute Stephen:

Finding Number One

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

Same article....I guess you must have just forgotten to post this part. :P

Sorry Stephen....The case is still wide open & Palin may face criminal charges as well. As far as "Opinion" is concerned, this was the opinion of the duly appointed (by a bi-partisan vote) chief investigator for the Alaska legislature.

From a larger perspective....Was she the best choice for a running mate that John McCain could have chosen? What does this show about his judgment?

Sarah Palin would do very well in the Chicago political environment.

The firing of Monegan was not the abuse of power.

The abuse of power was the pressuring Monegan to fire Wooten for personal reasons.
