Bill O'Reilly

A Buddy and I were discussing the campaign and how it is playing out in the media. Eventually the subject meandered to Bill and what type of stuff he used to report on a show called "Inside Edition". If I recall correctly, wasn't that show a T&A type show with nonsense news and lots of low cut blouses or video blurring? I had an acquaintance who was a producer on that show and we used to always bust his chops about him contributing to the detriment of our society by allowing such trash on TV. He then moved on to Survivor, and though I will admit occassionaly watching it, I would say he didn't move very far up the ladder. Anyway, did Bill get Born Again or something and correct his errant ways, or was he really opposed to the polluting of the publics' collective mind? How did he evolve from what he was to the self righteous owner of American moral values?

To me, Bill O'Reilly runs a boring 60-90 minute Attack Show/infomercial pushing his latest book, TV or radio show.....Boring!

I used to like Bill O'Reilly's show before he turned his show into a game show and started analyzing facial expressions and body movements.

Agree on that, swva. The body language segments are annoying. Same with the "Great American Culture Quiz" crap.

I'm also not a big fan of his use of "ambush" interviewing. He's got a popular TV show, that's granted, but when he does these type of interviews he almost always prefaces it with "we tried to get this person on and they wouldn't come (the rat bastards), so we went to them". No one is obligated to interview for BillO. If he wants to cut them down when they refuse to interview, fine, do an actual report on the issue and the person's role in the issue, but don't go chasing them up their driveway on a Sunday afternoon or ambushing them on the street while they're talking to other people. It's offensively rude and betrays an outsized ego. And not a bit of hypocrisy, given his recent admonishments of the police and the people protesting and giving the (alleged) child killing mother a hard time. Not to mention his distaste for the tactics of the paparazzi with various celebs.

Yet, he has his moments of brilliance. He has great guests on. He does do great, hard interviews (I miss Tim Russert, he was the best). And it's shown three times a day, so I can Tivo it at off hours and not miss the primetime stuff.
