Got my fire going great but the crank arm unscrewed from the motor. I got it back on several times but it seems like there is not enough clearance for the crank arm. If I understand correctly the cranck arm travels in a circle and pushes and pulls the carpet wiper (feed plate) which pushes the coal on to the fire. It seems like if I take a file I can take enough metal off the crank arm to give it the clearance needed but it is a new stove. Anyone have suggestions? I have to wait for the Reading Stove store to open on Monday but would like to start burning this weekend.

If it has an adjustable feed plate attached, it might need to be screwed out farther, as to give the opening where the crank arm more room? or maybe something is jamming the carpet and causing the crank arm to come off, make sure the carpet can be worked back and forth, sometimes fines or small pieces get under it and cause it to bind up.

The feed plate and carpet moves freely. I tried differn't adjustments with same results. It seems like the 90 degree portion of the arm is hitting the bottom of the stoker and sticking there until the crank arm unscrews. thanks for the suggestions.

Update...... I emptied the hopper and removed the carpet I cleaned well under the carpet and cleaned the wiper (feed plate). I put everything back together and when I turned it on all ran well. Then I placed a handful of coal through the hopper hole and the problem came back. It seems when the wiper (feed plate) has a load on it that is when the problem occurs. It seems like the motor struggles to push/pull the plate and then the crank arm rises up against the stoker and get jammed there.

another update I did adjust the arm until it will move freely so I guess that was the problem but how much travel should I expect from the feed plate it seems like it is not much of a movement.
