Nothing made in this country anylonger, not even paperclips, and a trade deficit in the TRILLIONS with Red China.

Let's see .....2008 minus 1993 is 15 years during which this new type of Republican (Bush/Cheney/McCain Neo-Cons) had plenty of time & the power to save us from the excesses of the evil Democrats, but just made things vastly worse. Big Oil, AIG, all the greedy big businesses is who McCain speaks for. It is just th middle class that he could give a damn about, & that's why Powell is backing Obama & not his old friend McCain!

Blaming big oil is short sighted and oversimplifying the problems we face Dick . This problem has been long in coming and can not be blamed on a single party or a single industry like folks want to do. I'd love to blame it all on the Bush administration or on the Democratic party for doing this or that, because then the solution would be easy. Reverse a few things and we would be set. Unfortunately that isn't the case and oversimplifying the issues is causing more divisiveness because the general public wants to believe the solution is like flicking a switch. It just isn’t that easy and I don’t think we can solve it as a nation until we stop pointing fingers bacj and forth and make a real honest effort to work on our problems together, regardless of who wins an election.

Oil's profit margins are somewhere around 7 - 9 %, and I know those figures are skewed because of accounting rules, but still, why should we care if a company makes money? I hope they make a boat load of money!! Hell I want my company to make a boat load of money too because I work my tail off. But, I don't get any tax breaks for working my tail off and the government doesn't protect my interests with a military force like we do with oil. We protect oil because oil is wrapped up in our national security and my insurance agency is not. I understand that and I support looking out for our national interests, though we can argue what protecting them actually is. Anyway, I want to see big oil, Big Soda, big airline manufacturer etc. make gobs of money, but they should not be getting tax breaks for making that money. You give tax breaks, subsidized funding and things like that when you want to direct a company, industry or someone in a particular direction, like alternative fuel/ energy sources, rather than rewarding them for doing the same old thing.
