I do understand what Socialism is Terry. I majored in Political Science in college. Socialism is what has paid for John McCain's health insurance all of his life, but he doesn't want all American citizens to have &....Socialism is what he suspended his campaign to rush back to Washington (he claims) to make sure was passed in the bailout bill. (Oh......sorry.....The "Rescue" Bill)

See...all you have to do is change the name & you're all set.

Torture=Harsh Interrogation Techniques
Bailout Bill=Rescue Bill

I've got an idea.....Lets change the name of Socialism to............."FRED"

Thus, McCain & Obama both favor "FRED" now....Only Ron Paul is against "FRED" ;)

I'm ok with Fred! :lol: Those comments weren't directed to you Devil but that doesn't matter. I was directing them to the poster that appears to have a man crush on "the one".

I'm not a fan of McCain either. Obama and McCain make me want to throw up.

Your hero (Reagan) cut & ran from Beirut after the Marine Barracks Bombing......He did nothing!

That had more to do with the Iraqi invasion of Iran than being scared of what Reagan might do. Their plate was full.

The Algiers accords were negotiated by Warren Christopher.

Ironically this debate is taking place one day before those attacks occurred, October 23rd. Not only were our marine barracks attacked and destroyed but so were French barracks attacked and leveled minutes after the attack on us. The rules of engagement at the time didn't allow our marines to have loaded weapons. Boy those were innocent times compared to today, huh? It was never entirely clear who launched those attacks but Reagan did respond later with the 16" guns of a naval ship off the coast and shelled some suspected enemy positions.

Sorry but that's just not true. Reagan said he would send a military force to Iran and they believed him. They were scared to death of him, just like the ruskies. It was literally minutes after he was sworn in that they were released.

Coalkirk is right. I wanted to stay out of the fray but this fruit is just hanging too low

For those of you who don't remember or who wern't old enough to remember Mr. Reagan is the guy who started this whole mess. Not only did he spend more money in his first term then all the presidents combined that came before him but he also started this trickel down econemy Bull--it where the object is to make the rich richer and eventually some scraps will trickel down to us po folk. It didn't work then it's not working now and that will never work because when the rich get thiers they wont let any go to get to us.

You are so right! (correct) ;)

Jimmy Carter usually gets blamed for everything but it was really R. Reagan who "set the table" for the mess we are in now. All that was needed was an immature, unintelligent, shallow ex-drunk to tip the apple cart.......... & GW Bush did an admirable job! Powell understands ...NOW....& that's why he threw his friend McCain under the proverbial bus.
