I have a power vented Channing. It appears as though air is coming out from near the fume switch. Not out of the pipe itself but from where it mounts into the stove. The switch is screwed in tight and the stove is venting fine.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Chris

I just checked mine and no air is leaking. It seems to be sealed pretty tight. I can easily move the metal housing but not the pipe that runs into the stove.

Are you sure it is air coming out and not air being drawn in that you feel? Light a match and then blow ot out and put it by the switch and watch the smoke.

Definitely looks like it is blowing out. I lit a candle and the smoke blew away from the switch.

Do you have a speed control on your power vent? you may have to adjust it up some more.

Sounds like a either a draft problem or your combustion blower is blowing too much into the stove. have you checked your draft with a guage?

I believe there is a manual speed control on the pv. I will check to see.
I didn't get a manometer yet so I haven't checked the draft.
Is there a way to adjust the combustion blower?

I would check draft/PV first, to make sure you are getting all the stuff out of the stove, if that is good, must be the combustion blower putting too much into the stove.

Normally the combustion blower would have to have a rheostat or sometimes they have a plate over the opening to increase/decrease the air flow. I have seen some people just put a small peice of tape to cover part of the opening. Just don't go too much, you want a good clean burn.

I just tried turning off the convection blower and it stopped. It looks like the air was coming from that.
Dave, I noticed you have an 1890 Victorian. We have a large 1890 Victorian as well. I am hoping this stove can offset my heating bills some. 3500 Sq ft is painful to heat with gas.....

Thanks for the help.

Chris,

What about the slider brick located above your hopper. Do you have the open. Also with a direct vent system did you use a draft meter to check your draft reading?

Do you have a CO detector? If not shut it down till you get at least 1 . Dave

On an Alaska channing III you will always have air coming out around where the fume switch enters because of the unsealed hole in the convection blower's air jacket that goes up the back and across the top of the stove.

I have 2 CO detectors. 1 Digital, 1 Standard.
Jpen1 is right, once I turn off the convection blower no air comes out.
