Hand Fed Coal Stove: Gibraltar LCC

Hello, I have a Gilbraltar LCC stove. Not only do I love the way it looks, it heats the entire house with no problem. I am not sure what size yours is, but coal bernie is the expert. They are well built, mine only weighs about 800 pounds, and more importantly they heat great. I burn coal and throw in a piece of wood on occassion to have the "blue ladies" play with the orange flame of the wood. lol

Any other questions, let us know.

Dan

Look and make sure it has all three firebrick retaining bars rear and the two sides also the coal banking plate that goes
across the front inside the stove it holds the coal back when opening the door do not worry about the glass being cloudy
or even cracked aslong as it is not all the way threw also check the baffel plate inside to see if it is warped they can be replaced or even used if they are not that badly warped as far as the grates nothing to worry about them when you see
how thick they are you will know what I mean look at the grate linkage bar make sure it is not bent or warped if it
is the grates will not move like they should Oh check the blower fan out to make sure it works no big deal if it dose not
you can get a new one the SCC model is one of the smaller stoves that Gibraltar made they say it will hold 45lbs of nut
or pea size coal well with a coal banking plate you will get 65lbs of coal in it when you fill it up it does weight 475 lbs
As for coal come up to exit 107 on I-81 or exit 112 I-81 if you take the 107 exit at the top of the ramp take a left go

up the hill a 1/2 mile take the first right you are on main st Joliett follow the road down to the bottom on your right
you will see a sign for Summit Anthracite take the road back a 1/2 to the breaker it will be on the left at the bottom of the hill you will be on a dirt road 170 a ton all sizes bulk loose wet Now if you go past there sign and go over the RR
tracks and at the stop sign take a left go 4.5 miles down the road take the second left you will be on Schwenks road go a 1/2 the breaker will be on you right the scale will be on your left go to the scale first pull onto the scale the green light will flash pull off go across the street pull under the second to the last chute on the other end that will be the nut coal or the one before will be Pea 160.00 a ton that will be Superior coal Now if you go to Exit 112 I 81 at the top of the ramp take a right go a 1/2 miles the breaker will be on your right go slow the dirt road is hard to see you should see the
breaker you are at Sherman coal co. 160 a ton or 170 a ton they where going to put it up not sure if they did yet
That Might be what you will pay at Superior to they to where going to go up to 170 a ton not sure if they did yet all of these breaker sell bulk loose coal wet or dry Good luck with the stove and getting coal

Thanks for the info coalberner.. He said the blower never came on when he pluged it in, so maybe the blower cooked. He has the bill of sale on it for when his dad bought it. but as for him he knows nothing about it, or where his dad bought the coal. He got the house and property and wants to sell the stove.. Im going to install it on the hearth of my fireplace, I wanted to buy a hitzer 503 but havnt got the cash, I can get a 503 for $1400.00 But when your retierd its hard. I may give you a shout if I have trouble firing it up. I have been burning wood and its wore me out. The old bit coal kentucky I know how to handle but this new hard coal I may have some problems. thanks again

J.C.

Well it was probably 800 lbs, since Stoves N Stuff did not clean it at all. lol But I guess the four or five pieces of coal I got from it was well worth it.

Is the "nerd feast" still on for this upcoming weekend? I was going up to the cabin, but since we are getting rain for Saturday and most of the day Sunday, we are cancelling. So I am free and would like to put some names and with faces.

Talk to you later,

Dan

There is a place in mechanicsburg that sells coal. It is called wertz's coal yard. It is easily found on yahoo maps businesses, it is on route 641. They are less than $250, I think around the $218 or so a ton, I just bought some bagged there and it didnt have any debris. They don't take plastic, check or cash only. There is a place in mechanicsburg called landscape II that deals in stoves, they carry new and used stuff. I am not endorsing them as I don't know alot about them, other than they are there, and I found better prices elsewhere, but you might find something good used.
