There is a wood and coal version of the stove. It burns coal pretty well once you get to know how to shake it and get the ash out. It took a while to master it but once you do its good for a small stove.

Ok. I am about to buy the Morso Squirrel 14XX "COAL STOVE". It is NOT adverstised to burn wood, but coal. It has the lower air dial free to adjust and is NOT welded. The US Wood stove version has a different baffle and lower dial welded.

Interested in buying the Morso Squirrel coal stove. Will be installing the stove on a 1984 Morgan 416. This seems to be the smaller and most versatile of many models I looked at. Also interested in the 5 inch flue pipe vs the 6 if this conversion is possible. Also looking for advice on a short piece of liner pipe or something flexible to between the rigid deck fixture and the rigid sections of flue pipe. Stove will be affixed to a bulkhead using a cantilever tray and supports.

Looking on advice on construction of firewall to noncombustables -using mineral board capped with copper sheeting and standoffs ??

Any advice you can provide would be great !

Burning a Morso 1410 coal stove at the store, and it rocks. Nut coal, 15 hour burns are easy. It is a dedicated coal stove.

There are many threads on "distance to combustables" here on the forum. I'm sure you'll find the information you need by searching the archives. Lisa

is it a morgan out island? charlie morgan made the 41 never heard of the 416.. what bulkhead are you planning to mount it on? the foward one? I believe thats too large a stove for that vessel.

I just looked at your link. I sailed that layout boat in the morgan invasion race and won it back about 7 years ago. sat next to charlie at the award dinner. unless your gonna sail her up in real extreme cold waters its really to much stove for a outIsland. even the rare 50' ketch walkthru.

port side foward salon ??
