Hyfire II First burn underway!!

Running an all day burn today. Paint smell very faint now. We have refused to turn up the thermostat on the oil fired boiler. It is only running for hot water now.

looks good! Are you using the built in blowers or inline blowers to pull the heat?

I am using the built in blowers + 1 inline duct fan on my long run. The two short runs are getting plenty of heat flow without running inline duct fans.

Passed inspection...I am now officially a Coal Burner!!

Just wondering........How long is your "long run"?

Run 1 is pretty much straight above stove to living room floor. 6-8' length
Run 2 is horizontal and then up to family room wall. around 20' length with inline duct fan 1/2 way
Run 3 is horizontal to the far end of the house in the kitchen floor. around 50' length with inline duct fan 1/3 to 1/2 way

Run 1 and 2 are putting out great heat...
Run 3 I have the inline duct fan running and only getting a little heat output there. I am planning on insulating that run to see if I can boost the temps. I can also increase the speed of this fan but it is fairly noisy at the end of the run.

Coaltrol is working great....brings my living room(above stove) up to setpoint and keeps it there. It's going to be fun tweaking the system to try to equalize temps in the house. (3200 sqft 1890's Colonial with 10' ceilings, plaster walls, etc.)

I also ducted my hyfire 2 but, I ran the 14" round into a trunk duct. 10' of 8 x 20 then reduced to 10' of 8 x 16. off of that i have 2 (so far 5 planned) 6" off takes that have an in line damper house stays at set temp. i dont have alot of airflow coming out but heat is fairly constant. will post pics once i am complete.
