Bush Vindicated... WMD's in IRAQ

Retired Major General Jerry Curry is a decorated combat veteran who served

as an Army aviator, paratrooper, and Ranger during a military career that

began during the Korean conflict. He recently wrote about a very

under reported story by the Associated Press.


According to the report, a large stockpile of concentrated natural Uranium,

known as "yellowcake," reached a Canadian port to complete a top secret U.S.

Operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad , and a ship voyage

crossing two oceans. The Uranium material had been housed at a former Iraqi

nuclear complex 12 miles from Baghdad .

He noted that food aid from wealthy nations could itself be a tool for bolstering agriculture in poor countries. Canada, for example, requires that 50 percent of its aid go as cash - not as Canadian grain - to buy crops grown locally in Africa and other recipient countries.

U.S. law, however, requires that almost all U.S. aid be American-grown food, which benefits U.S. farmers but undercuts local food crops. Bush proposed earlier this year that 25 percent of future U.S. aid be given in cash.

"A bipartisan coalition (in Congress) defeated him," Clinton said. "He was right and both parties that defeated him were wrong."

I recall seeing this story a while back and then nothing more. I figured it was another error in analysis like some of the earlier reports.

If you know anything about nuclear physics you're not worried about terrorists having yellowcake.

Long story short: it's a massive project to create U235 from yellowcake, far beyond what terrorists are capable of. It's a major project for a nation, it's simply not doable for an independent group.
