I bought one of these Monogram coal stoves to heat my store front on the weekends. I'm looking for some advice in identifying it and getting it in working shape again.

My house was built in the 1920s and has two chimneys, one of which I can dedicate to the stove.

I'm looking for one of those metal, floor pans to protect the wood floor and any advice I can get on the stovepipe and clearance. I also think I might need a damper in the stovepipe.

I also need to replace some of the mica.

Any advice is welcome, thanks!

The tag reads:

Monogram Ranges and Heaters
Manufactured by
Quincy Stove Mfg. Company
Quincy, Illinois

I have seen the floor protectors at tractor supply. Sorry I can't be of much help but that is a cool looking stove. There was a thread quite a while ago about mica stove glass. I will see if I can locate it for you.

Tractor supply, good idea. This is for my shop so none of that fancy tile or brick is really necessary.

Thanks for looking up the mica thread. Haven't found any locally yet so I may just order.

Ive never seen one like it either, even pictures. Im assuming it was made for anthracite and not wood or bit?

Mica: ebay, comes in all sizes.

Floor: cement board is about as cheap as you can get. Might want to put a sheet of steel on top of that so the board doesnt break when you step on it continuosly. Im not sure if your stove needs to be off the floor because of heat, but if it had legs as was mentioned it may need to be raised a little.

here you go

https://archive.org/stream/MonogramRangesHeaters/ ... 3/mode/2up

that stove was and i hope will be again a real gem of a heater. most all of the then current and previous premium heater features.

BTW, this stove is far and away much more sophisticated than the WM 400 series.

best of luck with it,
steve

You have to get it up off the floor to uncover the air inlets for air circulation. The original base does that.

judging from this and the next 5-6 pages of this cataloque the "Brilliant" may well have been the zenith of base burners from Monogram.

these stoves were from '35 and the "Brilliant" was from '39

https://archive.org/stream/MonogramRangesHeatersG ... 5/mode/2up

if you look at the "Modernistic" stove in the 39 cataloque it was also listed as having triangle grates. these guys really did their home work.

just so those who were interested in this know how it turned out, seems he did have the original leg base and managed to get it cleaned up and working.
