I'm going to open a competition with a few categories, if you have any others please suggest them. Once the category list is finalized I'll create a new topic for each category. Members will be able to nominate other members or themselves (don't be shy) for these categories. In the event there is more than 5 submissions to a category I'll make selection of 5 distinguished members to select 5 candidates for voting. Once the 5 canidates have been selected I'll start a poll option for each category that every member will be able to vote on. The winner gets a nice title under their name to replace "Member". For example "Nicest coal bin of the year"

So far the category list will include:
  1. Nicest Looking Coal Bin
  2. Ugliest Coal Bin
  3. Most practical Coal Bin
  4. Nicest Install for Practical Purposes (e.g. basement boiler installs)
  5. Nicest Install for Looks (e.g. living space installs)
  6. Ugliest Install
  7. Best overall setup Coal Bin and Stove/Furnace
  8. Best topic of the year
  9. Worst topic of the year
  10. The "I can't believe I just read what I did" Topic of the Year
  11. Most admired Member
I'll finalize the list around the first of November. Submissions for each category will be accepted until the first of December. I'll open voting on each category until the first of January when the winner will be declared by popular vote. Note that since this is the first time We're doing this Any topic over the last few years will be be excepted.

For right now I'm just taking suggestions on Categories.

How about...

1. The "Oldtimer" award for the Longest Active Member. (Other than Moderator)
2. The "Two Cents" award for the member who has something to say about everything, and consequently has the most posts in the year.
3. The "Journeyman" award for the person who drives the longest way to pick up his or her coal supply directly from the coal region.
4. The "Stockpiler" or "Personal Coal Mine" award for the member who has so much coal stockpiled the DEP could declare their basement or garage as its' own indepent vein of coal.
5. The "Einstein" award for the person who has the most creative way to store coal...Like the member who turned the wasted area under his steps into a coal bin.

...I could think of more if anyone likes these...

You might want to rethink the ugliest category. The winner might not have a sense of humor about it and get pissed.

Actually I think I'll be excluding myself and moderators from nomination. Some good suggestions but most of those I already know who the winner is. :P

I'll see what I can dream up for fitting them in.

I wouldn't take it personally myself. How about "Redneck bin of the Year?"

How about best customized/improved over stock stove and boiler. Probably should have a catagory for both stoves and boilers though.
