I just bought the Hot blast 1557m and installed it in my basement. I was wondering if it is possible to wire the blowers backward? I cannot feel any air coming from any of my registers nor does it feel very powerful when I put my hand over the blowers. I was also wondering how to get it to burn for a long time? I fill mine up at 10pm and it is out by 7 am and that is on low with the ash pan damper half way open. Any help from the professionals would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no pro, but the pros may want more information. If you could post a photo or two it could help. Do you have a barometric damper and/or a mamomometer? ( draft gauge?) If so, what is your draft? If not, a lot of heat may be going up the chimney.

If the blower is 120V AC it can not be wired backward.

Make sure you don't have any blockages on the intake or vents side (clogged filter, etc..), make sure there are no rheostats on the blowers.

Some larger motors sometimes have different speed settings (windings on the motor) and can tap into different speeds. Maybe it's not setup correctly?

Most blowers have a max intake temp, they work by blowing room air through the hot stove. If this is reversed and the blower sucks in hot air from the stove you may have issues

to be wired backwards u would have had to switch wiring around internally assuming the motor is reversible. I would bet it is not to save money. Switching speeds neutral etc will noot reverse any electrical motor unless it is 3 phase. Yours is not.

Check where they want the MPD.

Are you sure the blower is actually running? Jumper the thermodisc and see if they start.

I have the same furnace. You're not getting the furnace hot enough to turn the fans on.From the factory they come on at 150* and off at 100*.Jump the wires on the thermodisc and you'll see that they do move a lot of air.The first thing I did when I installed my furnace was to replace the thermodisc with a adjustable fan and limit switch.I set mine at 85* and 120.The new switch also has a button that you can push in and run the fans steady. This time of the year even if the air temp is 80* out of the furnace that will heat most houses and no you can't wire them backwards.
DON

I forgot to get longer burn times fill the chamber to the top of the fire brick and even mound it up in the middle. You should do this anyway, coal fires run much better when they're deep. You don't control the heat by the amount of coal in the furnace but by the air adjustment in the ash door. And don't use the air adjustment on the loading door.It should be closed at all times.Coal wants ALL it's air to go through the coal bed,not over it .

Yes it could be possible to wire some fan motors backwards .1if it was miswired internally at time of manufacture or you for some reason messed with the wires already tied together inside under the little acess cover higly unlikely but not impossible. Most motors have a "CHANGE ROTATION" diagram inside the cover.
One question is this furnace plumbed into an existing hot air duct work?
If so this could be where the problem lies.
Also is there air flowing out of your cold air return while fan is running?
Is the fan running?
