Devil, as long as your taking a break from the political threads, why don't you do a detailed thread on the chimney and it's construction? The base, dimensions, thickness, etc. Type of mortar for the brick and tile and how it is applied to each. Cap, flashing, etc. Oh, and don't forget the pics!
There, that ought to keep him busy.

Devil if the pictures weren't so darn small I would say that the chimney was coming along nicely.

Except for the Tupper, it looks like it was installed upside down.

That looks very professionally done, they did an excellent job on it. What is the open space at the bottom of the stack? I can't tell since it's such a small picture and I don't own any coke bottle glasses yet
Inside pic or outside? (inside there is the cleanout door below the thimble & outside some dirt hasn't been filled in the chimney footing hole yet.Adamiscold wrote:What is the open space at the bottom of the stack? Yes the outside pic, the opening seems to look like it's level with the side of the house. Thanks for explaining to me what you see through your glasses
It is a pretty small & dark pic. The brick goes down to ground level at which point it hits the (darker) cement footing which goes all the way down to the bottom of the house foundation wall.Adamiscold wrote:Yes the outside pic, the opening seems to look like it's level with the side of the house. The mason is a friend of Wayne's (son-in-law) & they don't charge each other any money. Wayne is a roofer & the mason needs roof work!

It looks great, seems it should outlast them and their children.
