Problems at Paypal

I was sent nearly $500 this week for a stove I sold on Ebay. My money is cleared in my account but I'm told I have to *claim* it. I even get an email sent to me requesting I log in and fill out some stupid upgrade to my account. WTF? Folks, I use this account 6x a year. But they insist I upgrade top a premiere account. So I spend an hour researching the Paypal site, How to claim money? Nothing, nothing at all.

So I call, get the idiot foreign speaking 21yr older name Sunshine. Give me a break? Kiddin me, Sunshine???? So she tells me, "We know there is a problem with your account, its happening to many people". ( broken English....) Ok, I say. I need to transfer my $500 to my bank account. "Oh, you cannot, it'll take 24 to 72 *business* hrs to fix the problem." So I say, " Paypal knows there is a problem with my account but doesn't inform me?" " Meanwhile you are holding my money and won't release it to me?" And furthermore, I don't get an email informing me?" Service desk respond, "Sorry sir ( broken English ), I'm very sorry, I'll elevate your request to the top of the list".

It's 32hrs later, maybe 8 business hrs and I can't request my withdrawal. WTF!!! And still no email from Paypal.

Yup, they bit me too. It didn't bother me so much that they wanted 3% plus $.35 for that one large amount, once you go "premier" they bite you for EVERY sale.

Two things I do with Paypal. One: It is NOT attached to my checking account. I opened a new account at a bank I don't do business with and put $100 in it. Thay way no matter what, Paypal cannot get my money. Two: I never leave more than a few bucks in the Paypal account. 89 days after a transaction, someone can complain. Paypal takes your money, then makes you prove the other person is wrong. (Unless they've changed rules recently, I've complained about it to them)

I canceled my Pay Pal account. They are terrible!
I bought something online & paid via Pay Pal. Within 5 minutes I saw it cheaper somewhere else & tried to cancel at the purchase site to no avail ...........so I went to Pay Pal.....No way to cancel a 5 minute old purchase there either!
(I finally had to dispute the charge)

I have an a Paypal business account for over 5 years and only 1 chargeback for non recieved item. I use it all the time to buy/sell on my website and ebay. YOu just have to be aware of the scammers.

I do Get a TON of Scam emails about my account being locked, frozen, etc...but I just delete them, since I know they are scams.....

My total account amount is just under $500. I'm no where near $2000. My balance was $2.98 proir to a sale I made on Ebay with no recent activity

you have a standard account and since you made such a large sale they want their piece of the pie

A $450 sale. One time sale, not a reoccurring instance.

I even thought the email I received this week regarding an upgrade due to large volume could of been a scam. Might still be. Obviously I did not fill it out. But I communicated via telephone with the slackers service desk. No scammer could have sounded this stupid on the phone.

ebay and paypal are truly an evil convenience. Between the two now you can lose as much as 15% of the transaction as a seller. Use Bidtopia or Ubid. Thousands of folks are jumping ship from ebay due to their recent moves to reduce the small sellers. They are truly scumbags of the first degree. The love of money and greed they display is sickening.

Another thing that is bad about Pay Pal is the numerous fraudulent access to your account emails that I used to get with fake links that would try to get financial info from you, claiming it was Pay Pal.

For sure, NEVER click on a link in an email. ALWAYS go to paypal by typing in their address and accessing your account. If there is an issue you'll find it there. Some of the scam emails can seem very real.

Paypal is a rip off. First they made my account Business/Premier Paypal, then my account was hacked. I ended up cancelling my account which took me over a half hour to cancel.

been using paypal since 2003 without a problem.....i have even overwithdrawn with my paypal debit card already by accident (gas fillups) and they didnt charge me any fees.......yea they take 3% of my incoming money, but so do credit card companies when you have a small buisness.....and i dont take the hit anyway, the customer does

I'm like Freddy I don't do much with PP and it is not tied to ANY account.If I sell a big item I tell the buyer to split the payments after the 1st of the month.I try to set up any big sale at the end of the month.
I also keep a separate checking account with little in it for PP transfers.
