How right you are!
I think it was in the early 1970's that the accountants took over all television. Good programing, writers, acting....everything was thrown out the window in favor of
PROFIT!
Example is CBS.
The home of Edward R. Murrow & Walter Cronkite & run by Bill Paley with an attitude that CBS News should be a public service & not required to turn a profit like the Entertainment Divisions. Some time in the 1970's, that changed & CBS News was put under this "Entertainment Division" & required to show a profit like any other Sitcom.
Since then, all television networks care about only one thing: PROFIT!! They will go with ANY story that will keep viewers tuned into their next ad & will not broadcast news that may anger a large corporate sponsor.
All media has it's sponsor base & bias. You have to watch a few of them to get accurate reporting as they all have profit as their main concern. (that's why I reiterate that for fairly accurate news coverage on politics, if you watch an hour of MSNBC & then & hour of FOX News......Split the difference....You'll be pretty close to the truth!
