OK to Shut Hitzer Blowers Off?

OK to shut Hitzer blowers off?

PostBy: BM-80 On: Mon Nov 03, 2008 9:47 am

I'm looking for info or opinions here.... My Hitzer 983 insert works so well (and the blowers are a little noisy) that often times I don't need the blowers to be running. I find that when the house is heated (from cold to warm) the blowers are VERY helpful, but if the house is already warm ( my house is rather well insulated) the blowers are not needed. Actually, the blowers make the house TOO warm...

Secondly, the electric power in my area is often interrupted due to the power lines being knocked down, and sometimes the power can be "out" for quite a while. (one of the reasons I was not interested in getting a pellet stove...there are a LOT more reasons) I am hoping I can still heat my home/use my insert during these times. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

A blower is an option for Hitzer stoves, as the Amish have no electricity. So I don't see where it would hurt it. Cirtainly you would not run the stove full bore without the fan to wash the heat off the unit.

If you have a rheostat for the blowers you can reduce the output. You can run without the blower(s) but I would call Hitzer to find out if the blower motors could be damaged by the heat.

I just picked up a 50-95 for my house. I called Hitzer and they said the fan does not have to be running, but the stove will run better on cold nights with the fan on.

Hitzer people are really nice, they are open from 6:30am, and have been very helpful with me.
