Fired it up today, temp set 170 10 offset, went right up to 150 and shut off, could the temp gauge be off this much? Also how do you have the restrictor plate on the blower set?

What's it got for an aquastat? If it's a triple, it sounds like the T-stat terminals do not have a jumper wire.....or it has a thermostat on the wall that is not calling for heat.

theromostat was not calling for heat but aquastat was set at 170

That's why I asked what kind of aquastat. If it's a triple aquastat and the low is set at 150 and the high at 170, it will not go to 170 unless the thermostat is constantly calling for heat. To answer your original question, I have seem many gauges that were 10 degrees off. Aquastats seem to be more accurate.
