"A Masonry chimney with a Terra tiled interior would be the longest lasting but obviously MUCH more expensive and perhaps not practical in the location."

A masonry chimney if done yourself will not be "MUCH" more expensive. using chimney block and tile it can easily cost less than a good stainless chimney, will outlast stainless by 100+ years, and look much better (especially above the roof) than a steel chimney.

If one can do a chimney of any kind, do it; powerventing is not a good idea, it should be a last option.

At this point the SS chimney was free so it is definitely the most cost-effective. I was thinking on selling the pipe to fund the PV but after talking to a few more people, chimney it will be. I will reconsider when my chimney falls apart, but I figure I got quite a few years left in the chimney. I do have a masonry block chimney on the other end of my house that my mag stoker is plugged into.. Last year was really my first full year burning coal so this summer I "cleaned" the chimney. It didn't take long for me to realize, I really didn't have to buy that chimney brush. :D . I did however have my horizontal length of pipe leading to the chimney half-filled with fly ash. I now know to perform a mid-winter cleaning.
