I was looking up info on the coal stove we got off Craigslist. My Google search brought me right to this forum. I'm hoping some of you long-time coal users will be able to help us first-timers.
My guy's brother has a coal stove. He's very happy with it. We bought our home here in CT 6/15 and it came with an electric furnace. $$$ We decided to go with coal.
Glad to have found this place. Looks like there's some recent activity so I'll jump in and post about our awesome stove!!!

Quite familiar with hunt seat - grew up on a horse farm and have ridden just about everything. My daughter took up riding and started on hunt seat. She's on to western riding now. It's all good...
Post pics of your coal stove and there will likely be someone here that knows about it... This is a fairly active group and they love giving advice (and getting into heated discussions... LOL).

Welcome.

Hey everyone! My name is Dan and I live in Lititz Pa with my wife and two boys. I'm a 31 year old crane mechanic that travels jobsite to jobsite and got tired of coming home to a cold house because the wood fore burned out. My dad has had a coal stove as long as i can remember and I just put a Harman Magnum Stoker in my house. I already gained a ton of knowledge by reading some of the posts so i figured I'd join. Thanks everyone for the helpful tips!

Welcome to the Forum, cranedan58 . If you could put your location in your profile, it may save several hundred people asking where you are located in the future.

Hi All, I live in northern CT and have been burning anthracite for the past two years. I have a Surdiac stove that I inherited from my father. He bought it around 1980 or so. I stored it for about ten years and when I took it out to connect to the wood stove flue I discovered a lot of rust in the heat exchanger chamber. After searching the internet for replacement I found the cost to be a bit astronomical. I asked a work friend who was a tin knocker and welder if he could make one for me. He agreed so I took the old one off and he did a pretty good job. Installed the new peice and have been heating nicely since.
I found this site as I was looking for information about keeping newly installed glass clean. Always interested in learning more I signed up.

Welcome to the forum, rlindey. At the top right of every page is search box specific to this site, just type your stove name there and you will get tons of reading.

You can start with Joeq's thread here: Diary of a Surdiac

You can also start a thread on your own stove here: Hand Fired Coal Stoves

Hello everyone my name is Tom and just recently purchased a koker lite furnace. I have a single story ranch with a full basement which is not finished. I plan to heat my basement and upstairs with this unit which would be approx 2200 sq ft. I am very excited to see what this thing can do once I have everything working correctly. Looking forward to all the knowledge that is on here with any questions I would have because this would be my first year burning coal. I am from upstate NY around Rochester area. Thank you
