Introduce Yourself

Hello all,

This is my first season burning coal. My wife and I bought a home this past spring and we inherited a Gibraltar CFS coal stove that the previous owner had installed. So far I love burning coal and the heat from this stove. I found this site about a month ago and have been reading the forums for information and tips. It's a great resource.

Hi y'all I'm from Keeseville, NY area but was born in the south. I retired from the navy in 2006 after 20 years of service and moved in the New York area for my wife since she too did 20 years with me and it was the least I could do for her. We do have family and relatives nears us so it helps and I grew up here starting when I was 9 in 19**. My dad did his 20 years in the Navy and my brother did 23 in the Coast Guard. Do have uncles who served there time in the Army(20years) and Air Force(20years) and my step dad did 20 years in the Air Force too. I have 1 daughter, 2 boys 1 granddaughter and a son-in law. I now work in Vermont at IBM as a Control Operator Technician in Facilities. We keep the plant running to keep the people out on the line happy to make the products.
I just bought my first new house in Aug 2011 and we heat with an oil furnace which replace the old one before we bought the place. Its a Williams low boy 105,000 BTU and heats our house okay plus we bought a Napoleon nps45 pellet stove, which is on the first floor, to offset the fuel cost . We have already gone through 2 tons of pellets and 50 gallons of fuel. Our house was built in 1920 with a full basement slap foundation, 1st, 2nd, and a big attic where we keep our history boxes at. With all of this our house is around 3000 sq ft. Thank you for a well executed web site with a lot of knowledge to be gain.

if your talking about serving it during the 40's then no. Was not alive during that time but I know it was established on 26 April 1944 for the Central Pacific Force and it was under the command of Admiral Raymond Spruance. Little bit of history here. :)

Thanks for the info 07. I have some great memories over the years with people from the 5th Fleet in Manama.

Thanks again for your service.

Hey to all you coal folk. I am a recent convert from wood pellets. I have a Vigilant ( mark 1) and have a Harman insert on order. I live in Mason NH. I am also a Mason. Go figure, town called mason but no lodge here. Served with 101st as well as 1st ID(Mech) ( The Big Red One) and the First Scots Guard, Tyneside Scottish ( Desert Rats). Dad was NSA, I followed suit. Learned Russian . Never use it any more. Live in a nice cottage , restore old Land Rovers to pass the time. Keep 4 dogs and the wife. At any one time at least 2 of them like me . Forman at a local HVAC company fixing and installing heat and a/c and heatpumps. Just keeping my head down low. Trying to lead a good life.
