I recently purchased a Keystoker stove off of E-Bay and I have to say it really worked out well. I have the stove up and running and it's heating well. I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice on adjusting the stove and making sure that it is running efficiently. Any advice would be appreciated.

I suggest calling Keystoker and asking them for a manual to get yourself started.
When I was in the market for my Koker I called them and they answered all my questions and sent me a manual to preview before I made a decision to buy. They were very helpful.
The number I called was (570) 385-3873.
Good luck,
-Len

Not a whole lot of adjustments, just make sure on full burn, there no hot coals falling off the end, if you have about 1" of ash when it's burning good, that is good. Check your draft and adjust it accordingly.

Not too many other adjustments need to made, just enjoy the heat.

Per the Keystoker manual, they are looking for 2 inches of ash during a full burn. Any adjustments should be done slowly and with a waiting time of an hour or two between adjustments, have fun :!:

We are new to burning coal this year with a Keystoker 90K...My question is how hot is it suppose to get? I just have a feeling that something isn't working right. We have a bottom direct vent stove. On a full burn, my coal-trol's feed rate is 99%, I am getting about 100 degree air from a register...If I go to the basement, where the stove is located, I can pretty much stand next to it...I put a thermometer on the top of the stove and it read about 180 degrees. We popped the duct work off the top of the stove and the air blowing out of there was about 140.

I am reading on here that some of you have 400 - 500 degree temps. I am not sure what brand the coal is...It came from Dennis Coal Stoves in Pompey, NY. Any input anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. We are going nuts trying to figure out how to get the stover hotter and to move the warm air through the house.

JeanCarter,
Sounds like your max on the Coaltrol is not set correctly or the feed screw is not maxed out on the stoker. yes, they should crank out the heat once it gets going. The sides of the stove should get very hot, they can get 400-500 degrees when cranking.

The air may not get that hot since it is only getting it from the back and top of the stove....but it should give off radiant heat around the stove.

What's your settings? Min/Max? Where's your thermostat located.?
