One change on the settings of MIN, can vary the exhaust temp by about 10 degrees. If you have a problem with draft or warm days, you may have to raise 1 or 2 to keep the fire going. But min=8 is a good starting point.

Finally settled on min 6 max 40, just like the manual says.
I think I found the ideal setting on my furnace fan limit relay.
Thermostat @ 69 degrees, house always within 1-2 degrees of that.
Estimate burning 25-30 lbs. per day with outside temps between 20-35 degrees.
I don't miss wood at all.
Thanks for all the help, maybe I can return the favor as I become a seasoned coal burner.

You must have a small house and well insulated, I think I rip thru about 60-80#'s a day to keep it 68-70. But it works much better with my heat jacket, just need to figure out a way to get more heat ducts upstairs without cutting up the floor.!!

I have 6" stove pipe connected to a baro damper( set @ 4 )which then goes to my 8" stainless steel chimney.

Are you required to have an 8" diameter chimney, or did you already have it? Is it the 316 Stainless Steel? If it is not that number, have you seen any deterioration? I have an 8" Dura Vent single wall SS inside the brick chimney; designed for wood smoke, so I wonder how long it will last.

Have any members used a Stainless Steel pipe not designed for coal; and got many years of use?
