just wondering if any Harman dvc-500 users have had a wheezing noise coming from the exhaust fan during "ash out" mode. It sounds as if there is a restriction, blockage etc...because it wheezes when all dor are tight and makes no wheezing sounds as soon as the ash or glass door is opened, allowing a rush of air into chamber. Stove functions fine, all noise levels normal when out of ash mode. Maybe there is some ash blocking something, I vaccume out the stove two or three times, wheez still there? any thoughts? Remember it is not affecting stove operations during normal burns, just don't like the wheezing sound. I am a little anal with regards to squeaks, buzzes and virbations within mech. equipment.

The stove is under a vacuum, when you open the door, it has more air and the fan probably adjusts accordingly to the pressure change.

Know about the vaccume, and pressure switch which regulates exhaust fan speed as per existing conditions, but this wheeze was not there several weeks ago, so it is something new. Just wondering if anyone knows of a particular area within the stove which is commonly missed during cleanings that may be the cause of wheeze.

Im not getting that noise, but have you checked the blower behind the ash pan to be sure all is seated well? Or small clean out plate under the fire grate? Thats about all possible that would of been altered during a cleaning.

Could a few leaves have been pulled into the intake pipe?
If this noise really bothers you, I think you will have to disassemble the pipe and find out what is in there.

highly unlikely with regards to the leaves getting in (suction very low), I did think of tearing it apart, but I think I will save that for april 09, for now I will just live with the annoyance. thanks
