I think he's a starry eyed optimist. The corollary to this thread is the one about New Assault Weapons Ban. Plan on a big garden next summer. If you have room for livestock, get some. And oh yea, stock up on coal.

One thing he didn't mention in his predictions is another terrrorist attack in the US. It's been over 7 years since 9/11. If you've read about bin laden, you'll know he is patient and persistent. I'm not a starry eyed optimist. I think there will be another strike that will be much worse than 9/11. I'd love to be wrong about this but I don't think so. and no, I'm not betting any of my coal on it.

It's possible, is it probable, who knows. I learned a long time ago to plan for the worst, hope for the best, and deal with what is. My gut feeling is something big is coming irregardless of what political party is in charge. We're in financial trouble and most people want to close their eyes to it.

Our county just reassessed our property. Mine doubled, everyone else I know in this area had an increase. I'm sure there are people who benefited, I just don't know of anyone personally. The county is already talking of another 10% property tax increase for 2010 because they can't balance their budgets Our school district is talking the same way. If this kind of attitude by the government continues I can see a tax revolt.

Last night on the news there was a story about the so called bank bailout. 290 billion has been spent so far. They can't account for it as far as how much actually went to free up credit. The inspector general at the state dept said something like "I have no idea what the money is being used for". The report said the executives got their bonuses and deferred comp, investors got a dividend, money is being used to buy up other banks but they aren't sure if any went to actually make loans. What a frickin joke. That's our money they are pissing away.

I've only fired a weapon once since I got out of the army in 1975. I plan on purchasing a Springfield XD45 and a rifle (not sure which one yet) this spring or summer. We're definitely going to start canning again. Haven't done that in 20 years but it's time.

There have been a lot of these magical know it all predictors over the years but truly, not much has ever come of it. I will admit however that in this present time period there is truly a different set of circumstance unlike the previous 40 years.Presently it is not so much what they tell us and show us that is happening it is what they are NOT telling us that has me concerned. I'll be watchin" like a hawk watches a mouse. Regards, Mike

They're pretty expensive though & still only last 5 years. Think I'll just keep adding to our supply of canned goods in the basement we buy from BJ's & Sam's Club. Mac & Cheese, etc.

What bothers me more lately is the way all these people marching and demonstrating for gay rights. People in this country have their prioritys up their a*#  Our government has been screwing us for years and still will continue to do so. Oil, food, taxes, electric and everything else has gone through the roof . We're bailing out companys who were negligant in the first place, rewarding those who ran them into the ground and punishing those ( US ) who had nothing to do with it ! Where are the demonstrations against the government, AIG, Auto makers, etc... This is such BS, let them all fail and restructure, all we're doing now is pumping money into a false economy waiting for the inevitable to happen.

We all need to be prepared and stock up on food, guns, ammo, coal and anything else we can because if this gets any more out of control, it will make the great depression look like a picnic. Also remember that the Mayan Calender says the world will end on 12/21/12, maybe this has more credibility now ??

Also, this is something else we need to fear, like there's not enough already :fear:

I think us coal burners would make a great nucleus for the remaking of our society. Here are some good guidelines for societal reemergence after a nuclear war but we could adapt these to use after an economic disaster too!:

Nonsense! ...You heard the good doctor explain how it would be required to have a 10 to 1 female to male ratio & that the females would have to be selected based on their highly stimulating sexual characteristics! ;) (I may be old, but I'm not dead yet & I would be too busy to discuss politics......There's WORK to be done to save our species!!
