Glacier Bay Stove

anyone have a glacier bay stove? i just bought one used 1980 model CSR and it really has been burning well for me even with the temps around 57 just had a question for any ideas on a baffle for in front of the door. the one i have is badly warped and currently i'm trying a piece of granite to see if it will work.

sure here is a pick of the old cast iron baffel and a pick of the smaller granite piece im using on the bottom front of the stove.

Pick up some firebrick similar to what lines the side of your stove, lay it horizontal, you might have to cut one brick to get the proper fit. Then secure it in place across the top with some angle iron. Make sure the firebrick is the split type because the full type probably won't fit!

i thought about trying that but there is a groove that it sits in which is only 3/4 of an inch at best and if i go too thick it will sit on the shakers plus there is nothing to hold them in place.

If you have a wet saw you could cut the bottom of the brick to the right thickness, I mentioned the angle iron across the top as means of holding the brick in place. As I look at your picture you might be able to get the angle iron into each front corner.

Tomos, Take the baffle to a local machine shop and have them cut you a piece of steel that size. it will work fine. ;)

thanks fellas i will try the angle iron and see if that works i do have a wet saw so maybe i will pick up some new ones and slice them thinner. thx for the ideas!

Glacier bay are the same as Gibraltar you can use the same parts . You need a new coal banking bar it is made of cast
