I am ordering a manometer today. It looks like the hose that comes with it is plastic? How can I install this in my unit so its running full time.. if it has a plastic hose.

I read other threads on here and all I read was "I got to get some metal tube".

Any more information and even pictures would be greatly appreciated!

oh.. I am looking at ordering the first one on this page.. the 41 dollar one

Matt, I think you want a model 25 not a model 27.

^ There it is.. thanks!

$34.. great. Even less haha.

Do I need to buy metal tubing? I want it installed on my unit 24-7 so I can always make sure my draft is in check.

I got one last week and used some 1/4 SS tubing that I had here at work so I could leave it in the stove 24/7. I am sure copper or anything similar will work. The meter comes with a hose abarb dapter for the flexible tubing on 1 end and NPT on the other which I believe was 1/8 or 3/16. I took that to home depot and got a compression fitting for the 1/4 SS tubing and I needed a bushing to reduce the 1/4 compression to the NPT on the hose barb. Probably cost $4 for the fittings.

Matt,

Automotive vacuum hose can handle higher temps than the hose supplied with the unit.

Did the same execpt I just stretched the hose that came with it over a piece of 1/4" od copper tube. I had to heat it a bit to get it to stretch enough.

Yes, a #25 is the right one, the 27's scale is too tight for our use.

Here's what I did...after the hose melted. :) I soldered a 1/4" copper tube to the brass fitting in the stove pipe. I wasn't sure the solder was air tight so I gooped some high temp silicone on it. I just stuck the rubber hose into the copper tube an inch and gooped it sealed.

Oh! And be careful filling it, it is very easy to overfill it. Read & follow the directions exactly.

I used the extra copper tubing I had from a ice maker supply for our freezer. Pictures below are better than the earlier posted description I had. :D When the stack temp (measured with a magnetic thermometer) right by the fitting on the flue pipe is about 200*, I notice I can touch the copper tubing to within about 8" of the flue pipe.

Drilled a tight hole so the 90* brass fitting from the refrigerator water supply kit threaded itself into the hole (very tight fit, no sealant necessary). I used the washer and nut that came with the manometer kit to fasten it (same threads on the 90* as the manometer fittings). Refrigerator kit compression fitting used on copper supply tube.

Compression union joining the copper and plastic tubing at the manometer. Used a brass insert from the refrigerator kit in the plastic tubing to keep the compression fitting from crushing the tube. Looped a short piece of tubing from the other port on the manometer just so that dust wouldn't drop in the port.

$34 Shipped.
Just an update on this. The site shows an $8 shipping fee. It didn't reflect that on my online order so I thought I was getting free shipping. I got an envelope today with the total.

$34 Mark II
$8.75 Shipping
$2.57 tax (?? I'm out of state)
Total was $45.32

Tax, YES, if they have an outlet store in your state somewhere, they can charge tax.
The problem is, if they advertise or sell on other websites in your state, then they have a presence in the state and can charge tax. Kinda sucks, I think there was a big discussion on Amazon or something.
