I have a furnace that is tied into the main duct work of the oil furnace and uses the fan on oil furnace to move heat. It seems that sometimes I will see lower temps on front of firebox and higher temps in the rooms. This seems strange the temps last night were 15* outside here and temp on furnace was around 250* room temps 74*.
The night before about same temp outside with furnace temp 300* and room temp only 70*
Can anyone explain this?
This is not like it is a big problem just one of them things that got me to thinking and cant make heads or tail out of it.

There could be a lot of reasons so I would keep monitoring and look for a pattern.

Winds or snow? It always seem to me, to be easier to heat and be more comfortable after it snows. ?? I don't know whether it's the humidity or the insulation of the snow or something else.

Just a thought; Wind blows , creating stronger draft = hotter stove. At the same time , wind is taking more heat from the house , creating lower room temps.
