SF-250

PostBy: Brack On: Sun Nov 23, 2008 8:27 pm

I just bought an SF-250 to heat my home. I was wondering if anyone who uses that stove have ever used an extension
pipe(s) on any of the air pipes on the front to direct the air flow. I was thinking of using an exhaut from a mototcycle or something to redirect the airflow into different areas of the house. Has anyone ever done anything similar to that? Thank you.

There isn't enough air coming out of the individual heat exchanger pipes to be worthwhile to duct to another room.. But Harman makes a plenum that sits on the top of the stove and combines the air from all the heat exchanger pipes into a single duct which can be used to place the heat where you want it, within reason.

I tried it was one night when I had a piece of 2 1/8" od tubing laying around. Basically for shet's and grins. Worked good moving heat but not too practical. I have an accumulator just like Razz's. Works great. This is the best hand fired stove on the market in my opinion. You can do a lot with this unit. Go back a few years to the following links.

The exhaust temp and the heat collector, / plenum /TEMP on my stove @ 18", run about the same.

The temp now is { low fire } 180 Stack and 165F plenum.

The heat collector helps move the hi temp from the stove location.
