Anti puff back device for AA.... isn't working

I’m posting a video of a timer run total video length is about 2mins, items covered are draft reading, flue gas temp, and damper opening before and after run. Also the site cover opening and fan run time after it opens (motor has stopped but centrifugal force keeps it moving even after site cover opens for a bit)

Wow. It better be a good video, I'm still waiting for the 52 mByte file to load. Glad I'm not a dial-up. Finally got it. Did I do something wrong or did you forget to take the lens cap off. No video, just audio.

Yanche, make sure you have the latest apple quicktime or winamp player. Yea the 52meg sucks and quality isn't the best. I'll be replacing it with a smaller size file with better audio and video, I just have to dig out my video cam.

It sure takes the 260 longer to wind down than the 130. My fan stops in a few seconds.

If I make it to town today I'll pick up another relay. I'm pretty sure another relay & add the other timer & it'll work. Once I get it working some electronics wiz will come along & do it with $.12 worth of stuff I'm sure LOL.

Alrighty! I added a relay & another timer. On the bench.... it works! The second timer is set for a longer time than the first so after the first one shuts off it does not recieve backfeeding power. Yippeee! Maybe in the next day or two I'll find time to hook it up & give it the acid test.

Now, once it's working mechanically and electrically, what about real world testing? I've been giving thought to seeing how close I can come to burning my eyebrows. I don't know if I'll have the guts to try, but have had this thought of inducing propane in through the 5/8" hole and forcing a (small) puff back. Once I get so I can make a small one each time, then try it using the anti-puff back device. Then.... oh yes... add more propane and do testing to calcualte if ten seconds is long enough to purge explosive gasses. With these timers it'd be easy to make it a 20, 30, 60 second purge. Ohhh, this is getting exciting!

I was talking to Charlie, my AHS buddy, after he expressed how powerful the Booms are. I said "Maybe they actually aren't powerful, maybe the mixture is sickly rich and even though they blow the dampers apart, maybe they are only producing at 10% of capacity. Maybe once we add 10 seconds of anti-boom air, the mixture will be proper for a really BIG boom!" He said "And we'll be finding the view port door 3" into the concrete wall?".

Arghhhhh.... cancel the celebration! I went back to the bench this morning & realized I'd forgotten about one wire.... so, it's still not working. Back to the brain board.

Damn, I was looking forward to the propane test! I think everybody should inject propane into their coal stoves daily. Especially here in Maine where you can't legally buy cherry bombs to throw in.

I think it has something to do with higher motor velocity and that counter weight on the fan shaft, both of which are not present on the 130-M

I was watching mine to night. Even though the fan coasts a bit, the view door opens the instant the fan doesn't have power.

Maybe instead of propane I'll get some smoke bombs. Hmmmmm

I escaped yrs ago & they still haven't noticed. I talked a janitor into taking my place. He seemed happy with three meals a day.

It's time....it's time....to celebrate!! YES! Waiting a few weeks for more brain cells to grow did the trick. Today I added another relay and voila! It's working!!! The call for heat causes a normal run, then when the call get's satisfied the anti boom device takes over and runs. It makes the fan run an extra 10 seconds (or any amount) and during that ten seconds the view door is help open by the solenoid. Heeheeeee! I closed the 5/8" hole. Time will tell if 10 seconds is long enough.

OK... Line starts at the door. The price has yet to be determined...just start bidding and laying $100 bills on the table.

You had me until the fruitcake.... no one actually eats the fruit cake! Unless of course by "leftover" you mean the whole cake. Then you're not trading, you're getting rid of!

I used one once when I got a flat on the wheelbarrow, worked great!

Hey Freddy...Thanks for the ideas you sent me for the automatic napkin & the automatic toothpaste dispenser!
(just a bit to complicated for me to build though ....but nice likeness of you in the toothpaste dispenser drawing! )
