I heard that if you answer YES to owning a gun you'll have to hand it over to a Guantanamo inmate ...........as they are released & given the addresses of all U.S. Elementary Schools. :gee:

Don't Take Your Guns to Town
Will Attorney General Eric Holder respect the Second Amendment?

Damon W. Root | November 26, 2008

"As President, I will uphold the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun-owners, hunters, and sportsmen. I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne." That was Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on June 26, 2008, responding to the Supreme Court's landmark decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which struck down Washington, DC's draconian handgun ban and held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms—not a collective one.

"I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals," Obama went on, "but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures."

While it wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the decision, Obama's statement was an improvement over his previous equivocations. But that line about Chicago and Cheyenne definitely stood out. Chicago, after all, has a gun ban in place that's just as constitutionally dubious as the one struck down in Heller. Indeed, Alan Gura, the attorney who successfully argued Heller before the Court, is now working on the challenge to the Windy City law.

So last week's announcement that President-elect Obama has tapped outspoken gun control advocate Eric Holder to serve as his attorney general should come as something less than a complete shock. Holder, who served as deputy attorney general under President Bill Clinton and as acting attorney general under President George W. Bush (a position he held until John Ashcroft was confirmed), has pushed for sweeping and restrictive gun control measures throughout his career while also endorsing the now-discredited collective rights interpretation of the Second Amendment. Obama's selection of Holder raises some serious concerns about his administration's commitment to upholding the entire Bill of Rights.

Like I said before, gun control doesn't stop crime. Maybe they should take all the inner city crackheads out of Chicago and then see what happens to the crime rate.

Obama put more pollution into the air with his chain smokin than we do with our coal stoves. And if you don't think he's not after our guns, think again.

This is funnier that the joke thread, I am not smart enough to read the stuff in the link Heish posted but I know Obama wants to reinstate the Brady bill thingy which say you cant have a flash suppressor or a pistol grip stock that is also collapsible. Alot of people dont know this but when the brady bill expired New York state kept it on the books. So I can only dream of owning an AR15 witha nice collapsible stock. the new york compliant AR's feature a nice "teasing" collapsible looking solid stock.............Sucks. My coal burning brothers in Pa can still go right down to the gun shop and buy the cool one for now, because collapsible stocks are only deadlier in NY. I wish I could type good because I have alot to say about this stupid stuff. I cant even buy a 30 round magazine for my 10/22 in NY. The grandfather clause still lets them sell 30 rounders for AR's and AK's manufactured before a certain date but who knows really. Im gonna go get drunk now and shoot of some of my non-compliant guns out back.

You can legally own an Ar-15 in NY with the collapsible stock, threaded barrel, bayonet, pistol grip, 30rd magazine full of AP ammo as long as it was made before 1992 or 1986 depending on who you ask. After that they weld the stock open, weld on the flash suppressor, grind off the bayo. lug, sell it with a 10rd clip and now it's safe and sane and they sell them at Cabelas. Remington now has a P.C. camo version of the Bushmaster, that ones for hunting varmints. hehe. yeh.

Hey! at least Obama is taking some of the blame for all evils away from Jimmy Carter. One hell of a man, and without being in office yet.

After G.W. not being impeached I don`t think anyone can ever be impeached again unless it`s for something that some think is imoral.

Impeachment is for "high crimes and misdemeanors," not for personal "immorality."

Most recognize that it was misused in Clinton's case; the fact that it wasn't used in retaliation by the Democrats against Bush and Cheney (for lying us into the war, for torture, for "rendition," for usurping power with the "Unitary Executive" theory, etc.) has done two very important things: it has p!$$ed off the left wing of the Democratic party and, thankfully, has relegated impeachment back to the extraordinary circumstances it was originally intended to address.

Pelosi and Reid saw how the absurd Clinton impeachment paralyzed, and further polarized, the country. Those who like to decry them miss the statesmanship they demonstrated when they told the impeachment hawks in their own party to take a chill pill after the 2006 election. It was not only politically smart but had the effect of removing impeachment as a routine political tool for the opposition in Congress to use to harass the President.

Stay tuned. Obama is a constitutional scholar. The question is whether the next things to go will be the "signing statements" and other signals of the "Unitary Executive" theory that actually constitutes the kind of governmental power grab that impeachment was designed to remedy.

Or whether he'll use that power to take your guns away.
