Just got back from Wally world after buying some things including .22 Ammo. When the lady was checking me out she asked "rifle or handgun?" I said "both". She said "I need to know if you are buying for a rifle or a handgun." I said "both". She said "I need to know which one". I again said "both". She said "there is no option on here for both" I said "option for what?" She said "the computer is asking for rifle or handgun." I said, "well then it's for a rifle, I guess I won't use it in a handgun". She then said "okay". I never had that happen before but, it has been a couple years since I bought any .22 ammo from Wally world. Anyhow, I don't think that it should matter. Next time I think I'll buy more and go through it all over again just to see what happens.

I think if you would have answered "handgun", you would have been asked to show proof of age.

Handgun ammo sales get recorded in some places, they keep a record of you buying it.

Great Journeys Start With One Step". great you have to register your handgun and now they want to keep track of who's buying ammo for what. between the money crap , gun control , coal plants and others I can't think of right now. this country has had it's 150 years of world power and it's coming to an end slowly , guess China is next for 150 years.

I think we will see the rise and fall of powers much more quickly now that the world is so interdependant and technological shifts occur so swiftly. 150 years seems short historically, but I bet we see major shifts of power in decades instead of centuries.

Hey guys, I go through a 550 rd box of Federals on average of one a month and every time the cashier asks me if its for a pistol or rifle, If you say "pistol" Walmarts policy is you have to show your pistol permit. I just say rifle now just so I don't have to pull out my license. There was a time a couple years ago I wanted to fight the clerk for this because I was buying a box of 44mag for my marlin lever action and I had to show my permit anyway. I think the computer only asks that for 22's. The clerk had nothing to say when I asked him what if I wanted to buy 9mm for my marlin carbine but didnt have my permit with me. Its a crap policy that I think they started shortly after the Columbine shootings.

And so it begins...

-----

Well….the Dem’s are not waiting long! “AMMUNITION ACCOUNTABILITY” is the legislation that they want to pass…to restrict ammo….note that you have two years to “dispose” of all non conforming ammo…or you are BREAKING THE LAW!

In Arizona, the Republicans will not let this get to a vote….however…we still need to voice our opinions to all the lawmakers….and we need to get these idiots that introduced the bill (Garcia, Alvarez, Bradley, Campbell) out…and any that support them out!

Here is link to the website…that supports banning ammo…and the states that there are ammunition banns proceeding.

**Broken Link(s) Removed**

Interesting how the BLUE states of Hawaii, Illinois, New York…lead in number of restrictive ammo laws! Make sure that your dollar, weather it be flying to the airport, buying off the internet, vacation, or sending a post card….any money transaction…is representative of their liberal, anti firearms position.

Also..buy ammo, firearms, magazines.

Spread the word to all of those that support the Second Amendment, get the folks that have a rifle, shotgun and maybe a pistol (The so called “Elmer Fudd’s”) that have been neutral on the firearms issue, may have voted Democrat, are not NRA members, do not think it will effect “them”, think Assault weapons are what the MEDIA presents them to be and believe the lies of the liberal media, believe the lies of “cop killer bullets”, believe the lies of “Saturday night specials”, believe the complete lie of the so called “gun show loophole”, and a laundry list of media lies and miss-conceptions…to get off their butt....join the NRA….Write their State and local representative….stop any…ANY…restriction on our Second Amendment rights! We need to all reach out to those that can be brought to our side of this issue, each of us need to get one additional person….the holidays are a good time to bring this up…and get those that are on the fence…to side with the US constitution/Second Amendment, and firearms rights!

What would that same 550 rd box of federals I buy now for 13 bucks cost if each bullet had to be coded as indicated by that link. Probably like 300.00 dollars. I think they should provide slingshots to the inner city youth so they take attention of of my hobby and turn it towards something else...I guess theyd want to ban rocks then too.

Good Lord.... I'm not a hunter, I'm not a gun person, I do not own a gun, but geepers creepers, these new proposed laws are crazy! Disopse of all unencoded ammo on Jan first 2010? Ya, right. If not so serious this would be laughable! I have friends that have hundreds of dollars in ammo. They're supposed to throw it all away? What about reloading ammo? I suppose you can only refill encoded casings? I'm sure all the criminals will heed this.

For a non gun type person that has a bit of common sense but not much gun knowledge, you have to help me. Where do I go to tell these people they are idiots?

Thanks for the laugh Freddy I need it after reading the walmart story on the Black Friday thread. Common sense seems to be lacking in these lawmakers and its hard to talk about with people who arent into guns because I get rounded up into the "gun nut" catagory.

While I am not a gun person I don’t understand why limiting people’s access to guns would increase the safety of the population. There are things in this country far more dangerous then guns like 16 years old girls driving their dad’s SUV while text messaging with 12 other teenagers in the car. Ever pass one on the highway?

Another question would be how do people dispose of all that “uncoded” ammo? I know a person who went out and bough 2,000 rounds of ammo fearing an increase in the tax on bullets once Obama was elected. Will he be expected to simply walk out back and fire wildly into the air to use up all that ammo?

A few points on coded ammo:

• I know that serial numbers are routinely scratched off guns that are used in crimes so wouldn’t a criminal try to take care of that before hand with the ammo?
• Who’s to say someone wouldn’t take a coded bullet off of another and shoot someone to frame them. How would the courts handle this?
• Who is going to be in charge of monitoring all these coded bullets? Same person monitoring the bailout?

Bill ~ Don'tchaknow thats what all of that individual tax per bullet money will be used for, namely to set up another department to keep an eye on the bullet buyers. The country does need jobs however.

They can't take away ammo that someone paid for and already owns, these bills come up every year and get shut down every year. What they can and will do is tax the *censored* out of all the ammo sales. What are they going to do, go house to house with search warrants and confiscate hunters' ammo because it isn't coded and then bust the guy with a misdemeanor? Come on, if it comes to that I'm going to Canada. I can go on and on about the word "assault weapon" it's just media bullshit, civilians can't buy an "assault weapon", an "assault weapon" is capable of select fire, any semi-automatic gun that requires the trigger to be pulled for each bullet is NOT an "assault weapon". They wanted to ban .50 caliber guns a while back because they could take down airplanes, what they didn't realize is that almost all shotguns and muzzle loaders are .50 caliber so their bill essentially banned hunting and got shut down.
