Someone just mentioned in another thread that pellets were selling for $418 a ton, I know locally they were selling for about $300 per ton.
The latest price I heard from Hudson coal is $150 a ton picked up, proabaly about $165 delivered locally. Chances are that will hold until Spring. What's really interesting is that it was $130 a ton at this time of the year last year. That price held until about mid August, nearly a full year. Going to be interesting to see if it goes down once the weather breaks. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that but at the very least it's not subject to the wild fluctuations like other forms of energy.

That's a typical price around here, actually might be more that some other places. It's only about 2 miles from house. You're paying for shipping.

I payed $200.00/ton for a truckload (24 tons) back in Aug. to W.Ma. I'm sure it would be a little cheaper now as diesel was $5.00/gal. back then. If you have an area to store it, you'll save a lot more that way.

Unless it was your buddy doing the hauling for you I doubt it would be any cheaper.vtec350 wrote: I'm sure it would be a little cheaper now as diesel was $5.00/gal. back then.

Haulers are still using that fuel surcharge gimmick. They have lowered the surcharge rate but have increased the flat rate to offset.
Have you seen UPS of FED-ex lower their shipping costs? no

This storage thing is something I am going to seriously look at over the winter in order to plan for next year. Only thing is, I am not looking for 24 tons but rather 5-6 tons.
