Losing Heat

i have a Harman 360 boiler burning nut coal once the damper control shuts it down it never brings back the boiler up to temp again what am I doin wrong

How tall is your chimney?? Do you know how strong your draft is??? if you have marginal draft, it will be strong enough when a hot fire is in the boiler and the flue temps are high, but when the damper shuts down the fire when the aquastat is satisfied, the fire will die down, the flue temps will drop and it may not recover when the combustion damper opens again, because the flue is too cool.

Do you have any over the fire air vents open in the loading door?? you want them closed, these steal draft from the fire..
