Unburnt Coal

OK had an out fire today the barrel was out of coal my bad but it's been running 6 o'clock it is now 8:30 that's about 2 1/2 hours. My baro's about 30" above the exhaust and my manometer hole is about 8" below baro. I still get .01 with baro 1/3 open or with a cap on. It doesn't seem to matter if it's opened or closed. The baro is opened when running and almost closed on idle. Just a side note I purchased a bag of match light charcoal for $12.00 threw in about 6 bricks waited 10 minutes as per directions threw a couple hand fulls of coal turned the air on with no feed 1/2 hour later nice fire can't be any easier than that. Save your money on the coal mice and buy a bag of match lite charcoal.

If you're getting a reading of negative .01 on the flue side of the boiler, something is wrong. It should be at least negative .04

His low reading is do to having a 6" stack pipe instead of a 8" Run 8" pipe from the furnace to the chimney flue put
a 6" to a 8" reducer there at the chimney flue that should up your draft from the furnace to the chimney .

I have another problem the ash is real puffy about 4" high. I was pulling some ash out by hand to see where the unburnt coal was concentrated at and decided to knock all the ash off the rim of the burn pot and now I have a really good burn. Is the ash supposed to be that thick and chunky or low and powdery?
