Carbon Monoxide deaths

I know this is not directly coal related, but it does show the danger if one is not aware of what can happen if you are careless.

No, not coal related but combustion releated. It's why so many of us are hard asses on venting issues. It would really suck to sign on here one day and find out we lost a forum member and their family to CO. As a smart man I met this year told me, "If it can happen, it will." Lets all err on the safe side and be smart. It goes without saying that everyone should have at least one working CO detector. More is better. Also, everyone on this forum has access to a manometer to correctly set their draft. If you don't own one, get on the list to borrow one. Check the condition of your chimney and smoke pipe. That goes for all of your combustion appliances. End of CO rant.

Very sad. I guess there wasn't a CO detector in the house. That is criminal.

I think there are a lot of people who don't understand the danger and don't have detectors.
Here in Utah a few years back a roofer set a box of nails on top of the chimney for a gas furnace killing at least one person.

I think I have 4 CO detectors, and 4 or 5 Smoke alarms.
