Good Luck Pa Deer Hunters

Good Luck Pa Deer Hunters

PostBy: gambler On: Sun Nov 30, 2008 7:55 pm

Tomorrow is the first day of Pa's rifle deer season.
I just wanted to wish the hunters well.
I am heading out to Philly tomorrow morning so for the first time since I was 12 I am going to miss the opening day of deer season.

Stay dry out there!

First day! Our rifle season in Ky was Nov 8-23rd.

Wow, why so late?

Just finished working up 3 deer tonight that have been hanging for 14 days. Now I am going to have a cold Yuengling to recuperate.

Good luck all and be safe.

I guess it has to do with the rut. They probably don't want the deer chased all around during the rut. You have to remember this is Pa and the last I heard about 850,000 to 900,000 hunters take to the woods. So if you were a buck chances are you would be running for your life and sex would be the last thing on your mind. So they give them ample time to sew their seeds. Archery season starts in mid Oct and it has just finished up then rifle season for 2 weeks and flintlock season starts the day after christmas and goes either 2 or 3 weeks (I don't remember).

Aceover ~ That is one handsome looking deer.He looks like the one that just now rutted- to- death my baby peach tree that I have been growing for 4 years from a twig. No bark left 18 inches high all around. I wouldn't mind exchanging deerburgers for the peaches I am not goin to get.

Hey Acesover....He's looking a little skinny....could you please plant more tomatoes and maybe some bush beans for him next year?!?!? :D :D

Interesting that he eats your tomatoes. That is the only thing we decided to grow since our neighborhood deer leave them alone. When we moved here, for a couple years we planted a garden of beans, lettuce, corn, tomatoes, peppers and everything was eaten to the nub except the tomatoes. Now we just have a patch of tomatoes and they leave it alone.

One benefit is they clean up most of the apples that drop on the ground. That really keeps the crazed yellow jacket numbers down in the fall!

I've been hunting for weeks now. Bow hunting is great, shotgunning isn't so good. The deer learn quick how to hide.

I almost got one just west of York on Rt.30 around 4:30 this afternoon. Counted 9 including a buck. I prefer not to get them that way. Please be extra careful when driving during deer season.

I`m totally surrounded by state game lands. Now I can understand why so much ammo is sold. Just sitting here typing this I`ve heard 17 shots. Of coarse I`m a one finger wonder on the keyboard but if there are any deer or anything else still alive out there they are hideing just as good as they can. At times I feel like a prisoner on my own property just worried about my buildings or propane tank being hit. Hunters my (opps! don`t want to be a felon)
