Matt, I have the same stove as you in my basement. I blocked off the front port on the stove and then cut an 8" round duct into the top of the stove. I have an approx. 12' horizontal run of duct to my register with an inline duct fan about midrun. I also have two registers(one in each bedroom) for return air above the stove area. That get's the warm air upstairs real well!

^ Awesome! Thanks for the information. Can you post pictures? I would LOVE to see your setup!

also, what inline duct fan did you use. The only ones I am finding have plastic blades. Locally, home depot was the only carrier of these fans. Lowes didn't have any and told me they did not sell them. For my current plan, I do not need one. But if I decide to run a line to the bedroom further down, I will.

I am also interested in how you removed the squirrel cage fan and did the dayton blower. Please PM me about that little trick :D

This is where I bought the inline fan: http://www.airboosterfans.com/duct-fan.html It has metal blades and has been working real well for me. 266 deggree rating. Minimal noise also, but that can be a matter of opinion. I have it wired to a switch upstairs so if it gets too warm I shut it off. The small blower on top of the stove still pushes some heat but it is minimal in my long duct run.

Bullshit. I bought one of mine there. Suncourt 6", $25.00. Okay, that was MY Lowes, but I'm surprised that they didn't have it at yours, too.

For you guys looking for booster fans check out the Panasonic line. They cost a bit more but are really quiet and can move some air. If you search around on the web you can get some good prices on them.

This is probably not the best prices but give you a look at the fans. I know I have seen the fv40 for sale for 150 bucks.

Sweet! I am returning this plastic fan junker today at noon. I will remember the metal fan thing for if I decide to work on another idea I have. I am going to also pick up the right size for my register and a few brackets to try and get this hooked up better.

My goal, to heat my house (basement and upstairs) on 2 logs in the fire place and the coal stove on low. I will get it !

Hope someone is reading this still... time to rock

Got her hooked up! I got a small duct and parts from home depot. I am going to hook a hinge to this soon to pivot it out of the way if needed but for now this works. I bent two pieces of steel. Mounted one to the duct and one to the stove. I have it slid right in front of the fan right now, but if I move it back to the right side of the stove more (tabs line up perfect then), only 1/2 of the air is going up and 1/2 the air is going in the basement.

I also got 2 male pieces as suggested. Man that made the hose go right on !
The hose then goes up

I then installed a register duct 12x4 into my floor. I had to move a shower drain 1 inch so I just used that metal ribbon stuff to hold it out of the way. I also had to jigsaw my register opening a touch to get the duct in. I used 2 screws on each end to hold it in place (my floors are double thick plywood). The register still fit on. The register has a metal top but plastic flow control blades. I think they will be ok.

Right now, I have the stove on low. Well, its on high but I control the burn with the lobe. Running it on high ensures full burn on the old triburner design.

After letting it run for about 15 mins I took this picture

Not to shabby! Wonder what it will be if I ran the stove on high.
I also have this running sometimes. It pushes air up the side of the stove to get a little more heat off the stove. Its a project in the making.
**Broken Image Link(s) Removed**
I could seal up the intake on the stove a little more and push more air, I will think about that.
I hope to soon possibly work on the intake of my stove. Many have added an additional fan blowing air in the stove to increase the triburner flow. Got the parts started, just need to decide if its needed. I am getting a full burn out of the coal so I am unsure still.

Cold air return is being thought about but don't know yet. I have a register in my bedroom and that is cold. There is a little air being sucked out of the bedroom and down into the basement, all on its own.

Hope you enjoyed and this helps someone. Thanks for the idea everyone! I love this forum!

Articcat,
Looks like it should be much better. I know my Mag. was greatly improved !

Your pic looks as if you were not at or near full burn rate, given the discharge temp. at the register ?
At a pretty good burn rate, I'm running about 150* + at the fl. register. I did not use an additional inline supply fan ( short run). I'm just using the stove's dist. fan. I do have a return fan running.
