Looks like Syncmaster and Tull replied at the same time. The total should have been 15,125.
Last year I used just over 1000 gallons of oil.

1200 gallons, we'll see if that truly turns out to be 6.6 tons of coal.

As long as the temps in the house are the same, I'll be 6.6.But I bet you'll keep it warmer with coalcoalmeister wrote:1200 gallons, we'll see if that truly turns out to be 6.6 tons of coal.

We can simplify this. We know the average oil heated house uses 1,000 gallons. All we need to know is how many people heat with coal.

I'm on the low end of oil consumption but as far as burning the foriegn stuff goes it doesn't matter how much you use as long as we aren't using it and sending our money outside our borders. Times like these in our lives we need to invest as much of our money on domestic goods. Turning to coal I truely believe is the best way a home owner (in cold climate regions) can get the best bang for his/her buck. When you look at the aspect of the least amount of oil used to process a product and yur buying a "Processed (mined) in the U.S.A." product it's reasons like htese that made my decision final for going to coal instead of pellets (wich are very popular around me)

1500 gallons a year. I run a business with gas guzzling vans and trucks. Those ****'s get enough out of me. If I could run an electrical van on coal I would fly two "birds". Scott
Thats 21,725 Gallons

A 'normal' year for me was about 750 gallons. Since I got the furnace going and figured out, I think I've burned maybe 2 gallons! My fuel budget was $366.00 a month, for 12 months. I paid $245 for a ton of nut on Nov. 18 and it looks like I'm going to get a full month out of it. I know I've probably wasted some while I'm trying to get things figured out but now I think I'm running about 60-65 lbs. a day and, the house is nice and warm. Plus, the ruts in the driveways are being filled a little bit every day!
