Baro Stuck Open
Last night after smelling sulfur I checked the CO detector, displayed 0, then noticed the RC baro damper was stuck wide open. It was 50*, very windy and my fire was just over idling. I tapped the baro closed and opened the stove door for 2 seconds to check the ash pan and noticed the CO detector jumped to 38. So it must have been just under 30 from the baro being open. Highest I ever had before was 14. Has anyone else had there baros get stuck open? Since it is staying warm until tonight I shut the stove down, going to clean it today, and will relight tonight. I hope this was just a freak thing because of the warm windy night. Last time we had wind like this it was much colder and my manometer was still hooked up. Didn't have any issues.

Yes, sometimes they build up with ash, or they stick on the sides, the tab gets stuck too, you can bent it a little or put a couple drops of oil on the pins that it rotates. Mine has stuck slightly open sometimes, but never had a problem with CO leaking out, unless you are at a very low burn rate or windy and get some back flow....
Good you had your CO detectors working properly.

my old baro used to stick open......since I got the new one, no problems at all
Got up for work and it was stuck open again. Its 48 outside and windy, going to get up to 55 today. CO detector said 16. I'll be gone all day so I shut it down, AGAIN. I think if this baro wouldn't stick open my chimney would be fine on these warmer days.
