made my own rubber rubber gasket from a sheet of gasket from the plumbing supply house. No more leaky water coil :D

I didn't use any RTV, just gasket.

I purged the boiler, then I wired up the circulator to get some water moving through it.... oh man was that thing loud!!! At first I thought I forgot to open a ball valve and it was dead headed, but it was just loud! :o

Hopefully, I can get the plumber back here with a replacement asap!

Freddy,

I understand what you're saying, but we are basically doing a primary loop with secondary takeoffs for the zones.

I basically have this setup, but instead of the true secondary loops with the closely spaced tees, I have the supply lines to each zone branch off near the boiler supplies and both returns come back near the boiler returns. We need to complete the primary loop.
Remember, I'm not zoning with valves, I'm zoning with pumps and flow checks. Since the primary boiler pump had no where to push all of the water it was actually pusing water through the inactive zone(right through the flow check)

Where can I find this concrete boring company to come bore a nice perty little hole in my chimney?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Yellow pages? If one doesn't pop up call a couple of foundation contractors they should know who does it. Usually places that cut concrete....like if you needed a doorway cut...also drill.

Nice job Jeremy. So did you go with all of those fancy controls and primary/secondary loop? When it came down to it I put my units in series and reused my old B & G zone controller. All of that stuff sounds great but I couldn't bring myself to pay the price. This summer I want to upgrade my timer, put in a couple of valves to completely isolate the oil unit. Also going to put a DHW coil in the EFM so I can leave the oil unit sit cold and idle. I got real confident with the EFM over the last couple of months. I'll just keep the oil unit in case of a major breakdown with the coal unit. I may just junk it in a couple of years and use the space for storage or something. I'm never going to heat with anything but coal again.

thanks billw.

Yes, I ordered a TACO zone controller and a TACO dual stage controller for ~$600. I'm going to use 1 aquastat for the high temp shutdown also.

Also, I have a primary loop, with secondary legs off of the primary. I didn't do actual closely spaced TEE's secondary loops only b/c the plumber didn't do it that way.

Hopefully, by next weekend, I'll be on Coal Heat for LIFE!!!! :D
