Power has been out since 11PM last night!! I'm typing this on gasoline-powered electricity!! :o Ahhh, who cares!?!? Gas is CHEAP now!

Governor declared a state of emergency this morning, & several towns had declared one already. I had a 4" deep solid river of water flowing under the stove all night! Luckily for me, when the water gets to a certain depth, it flows by gravity out of the house -- so I didn't wake up to a foot of water.

Trees are down everywhere!

Great test for my stove water coils. They thermosiphoned perfectly. I had to open a zone valve before I went to bed so the boiler wouldn't reach critical mass like last time! The 2nd floor zone thermosiphoned on it's own, & prevented any heat from going to my TV room ( I figured -- that zone is the highest ). Woke up to a toasty house!

Nothing to do today but drink!! WAAAAHOOOO!!!!!! :drunk:    :shots:

power just came back up for me, it was out since 10 last night. it was 52 degrees when I woke this morning so i scurried over to a buddies who has a generator i could use because he did not lose power. i hooked up the sump pump first then the stoker an hour later. there was 6" of water in my basement and it was bgetting close to entering the oil boiler. we had 4.8" of rain according to my guage and the trees had an inch of ice on them. well of to help the mother in-law she had a treee go through her roof last night. well atleast she stayed warm with her wood stove can't say the same with the stoker.

Yeah, it's worse than I thought........

I just talked to the neighbor & he tried going to buy a generator today (he's been borrowing mine) & the road in both directions is closed down! Trees are hanging from wires, poles & trees blocking road -- it's mayhem! He's pumping water from his basement! We got 3.75" since it started yesterday.

I'm actually having a good time here! Just had my first meal heated by coal & I'm nice & toasty! Don't know about everyone else though! :o I'm just glad to be HOME for a change!!

The town of Holden basically told everyone to "stay the F out of our town" I can't blame them -- traffic is usually STUPID on 122A in that town. I'd rather spend 3 hrs at the dentist! Even made headlines!http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28193030/ Won't be many folks online today from these parts.

Just took some more pics -- the sun finally came out -- makes the ice shine like Christmas decorations!

Give me snow over ice anyday. Only had a small amount of sleet before the snow started. Ended up with 9-10" before all said and done. Snow is easy to deal with except those who think they still need to drive like maniacs in this sort of weather.

Wow, you guys got hammered! We got an inch of sleet followed by an inch of rain. No biggie. Lost power today for one hour. Last night I "over heated" the house in case we lost power for a long time. Didn't need the extra BTU's but it was nice to wear shorts all day.

Yep,
I spent most of the day dealing with this mutha. Still no power here either. Dont expect it for at least another day. Thank god I bought the pto generator for my tractor when I did. Funny,it's amaizing how damaging it was but when you look around it's quite a beautiful sight. At least in some areas.
Here are some pics from my house.

Your lucky!!

The only people driving around here were the ones with no brains! It would have taken you 24 hours to cross the state! You'd have never made it home, with all the people stopping in the middle of the road for no reason...
