And now for my next trick... RSS Feeds

And now for my next trick... RSS Feeds

I've implemented RSS feeds, note that at the current time they only list the last topics posted and not the replies. Depending on your browser you can subscribe to these feeds or even get standalone application like Feedreader. Although these display in a web browser the intended purpose is to provide syndycation of content, for example their are various services that will pick up on these feeds, e.g think of it as a news wire. Since they are dated a person could easily subscribe too many sites and through their Feed reader get all the latest content in one location. As an example if you're a commuter you could subscribe to this content and the application you use could fetch the content before you leave for work, you could then read it on the train etc. There's lots of useful things that can be done with them. For more information see here: RSS Feeds

The default channel will bring up the first post in the last 20 newest topics *started*

RSS FEEDS: http://nepacrossroads.com/rss.php

Each forum has it's own feed, for example this forum is:

http://nepacrossroads.com/rss.php?fid=57

You can adjust the feeds to your own tastes if you're using a reader using the following parameters:
chars=[number] - number of characters per post, HTML and BBCode tags get stripped: syndication.php?chars=200
count=[number] - number of most recent posts: syndication.php?count=3
fid=[number,numberX] - forum id, multiple id's separated by a comma: syndication.php?fid=32,50
t=1 - first post of topics only: syndication.php?t=1
t=2 - last post of topics only: syndication.php?t=2
type=atom - Atom format: syndication.php?type=atom

For example if you can combine paremters to get a result for example:

http://nepacrossroads.com/rss.php?fid=57&t=2

This will return the last posts instead of the first posts.

Enjoy
