New Yorker did not supply the L8124A. This is on my existing oil burner. They supplied the L6006A and the L4006B.
Water Temp Not Rising?
coaledsweatThe control runs off of two inputs, the water temperature of the boiler and the temperature demand from your thermostat to heat your home.
Does the age of the thermostat play into this equation. I have asked my plumber several times if I should buy a new one and he always says no. The one I have is probably 20-30 years old.

Not really, it runs on low voltage and is dumb. They generally work or don't. Some older ones will have a heat anticipator that may cause problems. But to be honest, I don't know a lot about them.
How are you doing with your temps?

OK, I got a chance to dig up your 6006 control drawing. The B is 24 volt switch acting as an overlimit control and should be set @ 210*, it should have some wires running to your oil boiler. The A version is your boiler control. It should be set @190*, you may want to set it lower. It looks like once the boiler is powered up the blower runs until it reaches the setpoint. At that point, the blower shuts off and the pump starts. When the temperature falls the blower starts, if it falls enough, the pump stops.
What was the problem you had with the blower? Did it run, make noise, make trouble with the fire? Is it on the boiler? We need to get that running to make this work properly.
