C,C,COLD!!!!

PostBy: sterling40man On: Sun Dec 21, 2008 1:45 pm

Here's a pic of my thermometer this morning!! This was taken at 8am. It was -28.4* at 6:45am.

That's right! -26*. It was warmer than 65* inside the house. The thermometer is attached on an outside wall with the probe going through the window.

If you brought the house to 74, which isn't unreasonable, you'd be 100* warmer than outside!

Guys,

It hasn't got this cold, in Dec, for a long time! This is usually mid Jan to mid Feb weather.

Freddy, how cold was it a couple hundred miles south where you live? I'm sure the AA is keeping you toasty.

Dave, I'm still patiently waiting. I talked to my dealer on Friday. Keystoker has got a bunch of boilers built. They are still waiting on parts, i.e stoker grates, motors etc. They had told him, 2 weeks ago, that he would get 3 or 4 K6's before Christmas. That wasn't what they told him this past Friday. Hopefully next month. Looks like I'll have to get some more oil. I'm down to about a quarter tank. If it continues to be this cold, I'll probably use 100 gallons in 2 weeks!

We had 10below this morning. Didn't get above zero til after noon. The AA is going " Yawwwwn, come on, gimme a challenge!"

Big snow now.... 5" on the ground, another foot or so coming they say. Wind is picking up. Ought to be sumthin' when the winds get to 50 MPH as predicted.

35 below?

I'd move.

Coal or no coal, I'd be out of there yesterday. I hear real estate in Florida is affordable again.

:( Northern Maine has "coldest spot in the nation" status quite often :(
Also some of the nicest and most gracious and friendly "locals" on Earth!!
Was lucky to have recieved many great home cooked meals and good times at folks homes while traveling to Ashland Maine back in the mid 70's.
Many of these people had left the area to seek fame and fortune in larger cities like Boston,Hartford,New London etc. But said just had to come back to where home was! Smart folks!! They live in heaven on earth and they know it

That's precisely the reason I didn't take the opportunity to move up there several years ago. I have family in the Jonesport/Addison area and a friend lived up in Biddeford and had a job for me and a place to live.

Then I remembered how much I don't like winter. :D

RI is cold enough, long enough for my taste.
